Concert tours are often the highlight of a performance year for amateur ensembles and for this reason alone we, at Rondo Music, believe that the whole tour, not just the concerts, must suit precisely the requirements of the group in every way possible.

Travel

We will collect you from your base by quality executive coach and provide you with an equipment trailer, should that be deemed necessary. We have our own late model coaches from the best manufacturer and are very selective about our choice of coach when our own vehicles are not available or you need a vehicle of a different size.

This first class coach will remain with you throughout your tour and the crew will be there to help you, whenever you need them.

For groups touring in mainland Europe we normally prefer to use the ferries operated by P & O Ferries out of Dover or Hull. However should you have a preference for The Tunnel, Sea France or Brittany Ferries, this will present us with no problem at all.

Accommodation

Each group will have its own requirements for accommodation and we are in a position to provide for all of them.

School groups may want youth centres to keep the cost down, whilst adult ensemble may prefer three or even four star properties. Our experience and knowledge of people and places allows us to find exactly what you need.

The supply of food can vary from full board to bed and breakfast. We can arrange all of this, both in and out of the hotel. We are aware that often food consumption can be dependent on rehearsal and performance schedules so cannot always be ascertained at an early stage.

Rehearsals

Many ensembles will use the time together on tour to hone their performances by an intense rehearsal programme, so we will establish your needs at an early stage and look for accommodation with suitable rehearsal facilities or arrange facilities close-by.

In the same vein, it is important to consider the storage and security of instruments and equipment.

Performances

You will choose the number of performances that you want to make. We will then discuss the kind of venues that you prefer.

In our experience the choice of venue is critical to the success of a tour. It is not always the obvious and prestigious venues that turn out to be the best. Unless an ensemble has an international reputation, it is highly unlikely that it will be recognised outside its home area, so the name alone will not draw an audience.

A venue that has a loyal audience, turning up and trusting the quality of the management decisions will always prove to be a more successful event.

We are aware of the needs of different styles of group and the appropriateness of the venue, be it outdoors or indoors and will discuss with you the performance space that is required. The number and layout of armless chairs is important, as is the proximity of a power supply and toilet or changing facilities.

Access to venues needs to be considered. Is it possible to get close with a coach and what effort is needed to unload and load the equipment on and off the coach.

We want you and the audience to be comfortable with the end result of all our efforts.

Logistics

There are lots of aspects of tour and concert organisation that can easily be assumed. We like to cover all aspects of planning and let you see what we do on your behalf.

Examples of this include: the size of instrumental luggage relative to the luggage space on the coach and the consequent need for a trailer; the responsibility for the production and distribution of publicity; the physical area of a performance area and the provision and arrangement of the right kind of seating; changing facilities; instrument storage; venue maps for the driver, along with parking maps once he has unloaded.
